Drug Addiction Case Study

Simon age 34 years initially came to therapy for problems related to his compulsive use of cocaine and difficulty committing to intimate relationships. Simon worked in the city and had a tendency to binge in the evening when out with his colleagues or on business entertaining business clients. Simon found that his alcohol consumption had been increasing, as a result of cocaine, which he said made him able to ‘keep up’.

Simon soon found that his work was affected and not able to function as sharply as before, the final straw was when he had his end of year review and compensation, which for Simon was dismal. Simon soon became unable to face work having bouts of depression and more time off from work due to the pressure to perform and low expectation and self-belief.
